The KHS Orchestra has the largest talent range of any part of the music program. We have beginning students all the way to students who have been playing for 13+ years. Even with this diversity, we remain one of the top orchestra's in the state.

Our orchestra consists of 50+ members (approx. 11 first violins, 20 second violins, 6 violas, 12 cellos, and 4 bases). We have had great exponetial growth over the past several years (in both talent and size of group) despite, or perhaps becasuse of :), 4 conductor changes in 4 years. In 2001 and 2002 the we participated in the Mt. Hood Community College in Gresham, Oregon. In both cases, we were the top string group. This competition has drawn more than 50 participants both years!
On top of that, the orchestra was the only music group that sent students to the WIAA Solo and Ensemble competition in 2003. Our Contable ensemble recieved a 1- and went on to state. The cello duo of Courtney Buckley and Grant Berischbach recieved a 1 and also went on to state. Kennewick High also had 5 violinists recieve a 1 at the regional competition with Sara Linde becoming first alternate for state (a great accomplishment considering the large Orchestral talent in the Tri-Cities). Great job Orchestra!
